Wildflowers - Red/Pink Flowers |
One easy way to identify wildflowers is by their flower colour. In fact,
Peterson's Field Guide to Wildflowers is organized on this concept. The same groupings are used here.
These colour groupings should be regarded as broad categories. For example, the category Blue/Violet includes all shades of blue,
from very dark blue to very pale blue.
As well, many species produce flowers in more than one colour (eg, some flowers of a species may be blue, some may be white).
When flowers are made up of more than one colour, a flower is only considered to be of a particular colour
if a substantial portion of the flower is of that colour.
