Distinctive features: Very closely resembles Small White Lady's Slipper but has dark purplish sepals.

Similar species:
  •   Small Yellow Lady's Slipper (Cypripedium parviflorum var makasin) - Yellow flower with purplish petals behind the "slipper".

  •   Small White Lady's Slipper (Cypripedium candidum) - Petals behind the "slipper" are greenish.

  •   Large Yellow Lady's Slipper (Cypripedium parviflorum var pubescens) - Yellow flowers; larger; greenish petals.

Flowers: Spring, Summer;  White;  Irregular flowers

Leaves: Alternate, Simple, Entire

Habitat: Fields and Open Areas

Native/Non-native: Native

Notes: Closely resembles Small White Lady's Slipper.
